| This week we're publishing two new fund groups, both
created by authors of popular blogs. The first is long overdue and created by Mebane Faber,
AlphaClone co-founder and author of the World
Beta blog. Meb has been cloning this fund group (by hand until AlphaClone
went live!) since 2006. It's called World Beta by Mebane
Faber and includes ten of Meb's favorite managers. This group's Top 10
Holdings clone is up a very healthy 34% year-to-date (5/29/09) The second is created by the popular investment blog MarketFolly. Jay has one of the most widely
read blogs around use of public disclosures and tracking hedge fund investor
letters. He's a big fan of AlphaClone and we're a big fan of his. His MarketFolly Fund
Group includes three of his favorite hedge fund managers but with a twist
(he filtered out mega cap stocks when cloning the group which as you know, is
super easy to do with AlphaClone). Marketfolly prefered clone from its new group
is the Top 3 Holdings clone which is up 15% year-to-date and has returned 20%
annualized since 2000 (yes 20%).(5/29/09). Stay tuned because there will be more of these to come.
If you are a blogger and you're interested in creating your own "branded" fund
group, just send us a note saying you are interested and provide some
information about your investment blog. |
